Born as a solo endeavour in 2010 by B., Vixenta quickly grew into a collaborative effort with each member infusing their influences into the band's sound. Their inaugural release "A Moment in Solace" was unveiled in 2012. The album features intricate counter melodies, atmospheric compositions in a DSBM style and the distinctive inclusion of two vocalists, a rarity in the genre. "A Moment in Solace" served as a sign of the band's creativity, setting the stage for their evolving journey through the realms of black metal. In 2014 among the echoes of their debut album, Vixenta ventured into darker territories with the release of "Predation", an EP that showcased a slight style change for the band. Following this EP, Vixenta culminated in a live show and soon after entered a brief hiatus. Vixenta, reinvigorated and determined, had resurfaced in 2018 reintroducing themselves to the black metal world with a remastered collection of their discography. Recording for their next album had begun at this time with the arrival of Moosh on Vocals. Their second full-length album "Polarity" was released in 2021 and is inspired by the harrowing tales of early polar explorers. The album delves into the depths of human endurance amidst settings where humans were never meant to be, exploring themes of cannibalism, the chilling embrace of the frost and the intense toll of mental illness. While the album received positive reviews for it's exploration of these themes, it also faced criticism for it's bleak and emotionally challenging content. In addition to "Polarity," Vixenta also collaborated with Hanoi-based melodic black metal band Elcrost on a split EP released just a month later to widely positive reviews. The collaboration showcased Vixenta's versatility, featuring stripped down, slower and longer songs echoing their first album "A Moment in Solace". Vixenta has continued to collaborate with fellow artists outside of the black metal genre including Rêvasseur and City of Dawn. Vixenta's upcoming album aims to be their darkest and most ambitious yet. Drawing heavy inspiration from the raw intensity of second wave black metal groups such as Emperor and Enslaved, as well as the haunting ambience of dark fantasy video games such as Castlevania and Dark Souls, this album delves into the depths of wickedness and despair. The album features a blend of their most melodic compositions alongside their darkest and fastest songs to date. Listeners will be transported to a realm where the boundaries between reality and fantasy blur in a harmony of musical exploration.
